Who we are

Keylayer is a service of Bitgate, Inc. These terms are the agreement between you and Bitgate for using Keylayer: the site, the dashboard, the API and the relay.

By signing in or using Keylayer, you accept these terms. If you use Keylayer for an organization, you accept them for that organization too. You need to be at least 16.

The service

Keylayer stores your AI provider API keys encrypted, lets you issue Keylayer keys with their own limits, relays requests to your providers and shows you what happened. We provide it as is and as available, without an uptime guarantee or service level agreement. We work to keep it running and correct, but we don't promise it is free of errors, interruptions or data loss, and we can change, add or remove features.

Your account and vault

You sign in with a Google account. You're responsible for everything done with your account and with the Keylayer keys you issue. Keep your keys secret: anyone holding one can use it within its limits until it expires or you revoke it.

Keep your passkey and recovery code safe. If you lose every way to unlock your vault, you can only reset it, and we can't recover what was in it.

Your provider accounts

Keylayer uses the API keys you add from your own accounts with AI providers. Your agreement with each provider applies to everything you send through Keylayer, and the provider bills you directly for all usage. Make sure your provider's terms allow how you use your key.

Spend caps and limits

Keylayer keys can carry limits such as request rates, allowed paths, expiry dates and spend caps. Keylayer enforces them on a best effort basis, and they don't limit what your provider can bill you.

  • A hard cap reserves the most a request could cost before forwarding it, and refuses requests it can't price. If a provider reports more than the reservation, Keylayer suspends the key, but that request has already run.
  • An estimated cap lets some requests it can't price through on a small estimate, so spending can pass the cap, and requests running at the same time can each pass it.
  • Keylayer counts cost from providers' published prices and the usage they report, so its numbers can differ from your provider's bill.
  • Pausing or revoking a key stops its running requests within about 10 seconds. Work your provider already did is still billed.

You are responsible for everything your providers bill you, including usage past a cap. We recommend setting limits in your provider accounts too. The docs explain how caps work in detail.

The free plan

The free plan costs nothing and has limits on requests, credentials and keys, listed in the docs. On busy days, free workspaces can be limited until 00:00 UTC. We can change the free plan and its limits at any time.

  • Pro is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly in US dollars at the price shown on keylayer.io/pricing when you check out. It raises the free plan's limits as listed there. Per-minute flood limits that protect the service still apply.
  • Stripe processes payments through Stripe Managed Payments and is the merchant of record for the sale. Stripe handles sales tax, VAT and GST, so tax may be added at checkout depending on where you are.
  • You can cancel any time from Manage billing in the dashboard. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then your workspace moves to the free plan's limits: your existing provider keys keep working within those limits, adding new ones past the free limit is refused, and activity older than 7 days is deleted.
  • If a renewal payment fails, Stripe tries again and you keep Pro for up to 30 days. If it still hasn't gone through by then, your workspace moves to the free plan until it does.
  • Fees are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • We may change prices for future billing periods, and we'll email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you.

Acceptable use

Don't use Keylayer to:

  • break the law, or relay anything illegal;
  • break your providers' terms;
  • send spam or malware, or attack, probe or overload other systems;
  • get around Keylayer's limits, caps or rate limits, for example with extra accounts;
  • test Keylayer's security without asking us first, or disrupt the service for others.

Your content

What you send through Keylayer stays yours. We use it only to run the service, as our privacy policy describes.

Suspension and termination

We can limit or suspend a workspace or a key, block traffic from an email domain, or close a workspace if it breaks these terms, puts Keylayer or others at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we tell you first. You can stop using Keylayer at any time and ask us to delete your account.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost profits, lost data, or charges from your AI providers, including charges past a spend cap. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or rights that consumers have under mandatory law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We change the date at the top, and for changes that matter, we email you before they take effect. If you keep using Keylayer after that, the new terms apply.

Law and disputes

Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes go to the competent court for the district of our registered office, unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to go to a court where you live.
